Pietro Terzini: the life and inspirations of a young contemporary artist.
Pietro Terzini, the soul of the latest Paolo Pecora collaboration created for the Spring Summer 2023 season in the Men's and Children's collections, is a multimedia artist, highly appreciated for his irony and his scathing vision of today's reality.
We had already met him on the pages of our Journal, to talk about Milan and its multifaceted souls. 32 almost 33 years old, Milanese by adoption and inspiration, today Pietro returns and tells us a little more about himself, answering some questions about his work and the inspirations of a contemporary artist, between fashion design and digital art.
If you had to introduce Pietro Terzini to a person who doesn't know who he is or his art, what would you say?
Pietro Terzini is a guy who writes!
You have been defined as a “ pop-artist ”, you have architecture studies behind you and you work in and with new media. In practice, when, where and how was your art born?
My creative growth, like everyone else's, is constantly evolving and influenced by my daily life experiences and the people I meet.At the moment what I do is a mix of ingredients stolen from my past. I worked for years in fashion, and that's where I got the idea to use its packaging.
"We live in a whole new world that has been shaped and accelerated by the social media revolution and that's where I decided to make what I do have Instagram as its primary channel of diffusion."
And finally I studied architecture, the tools I use to design and create my works I took from there. Ultimately, my art is a cocktail of my experiences, professional and relational, which are used to photograph our present.
From the moment you started, how long did it take you to create something you were actually happy with, in terms of the result?
I made my first works in 2009; the first article about my work came out in 2020, so I would say a lot! About 11 years.
Do you have any particular materials that you favor for your works?
I love using Hermes bags and doing Instagram DMs. I also love Golden acrylic paints, they are the best!
We know that you draw inspiration from the most diverse sources, even from the Milanese gray scale. How does a work or a reinterpretation of Pietro Terzini come to life today?
It comes when I walk or when I'm on the subway or train. It comes when I listen to a song or watch a movie. It comes when I listen to a story told at the bar. There is no real creative process.
"It all starts from an intuition that over time is brought into focus and designed." Pietro Terzini
Which artists (if any) have recently struck and/or inspired you to the point of making you say, " Damn, I have to get back to the studio right now... "
I don't really follow the art scene, but I really like cinema and music. That's where I get my inspiration and creative satisfaction.
The latest works by Marracash and Gué inspired me.
We know how the net and its “culture” play an important role in your works, and how you are a keen observer of the present. How do you think the scenarios of online communication are changing, in perspective?
For me the greatest revolution since the invention of printing has been the advent of social media. We are probably living in the peak of the first era of these platforms today.

At this stage, it seems clear to me that there has been a collapse in the authoritativeness and authority of the players who once defined culture, later expressed in various categories of interest, in favor of an explosion of individual figures with the power to influence the market and culture equal to an editorial team of 100 people.
All of this would have been unthinkable less than 10 years ago.
If you had to ask Pietro Terzini a question, what would you ask him?
“What do you want to be when you grow up!?”
Future projects?
On February 9th I opened my first solo exhibition at Glauco Cavaciuti Gallery in Milan. Since it's my first time, I'm a little nervous but at the same time curious to see the reaction of the people who will come during the month of the exhibition. Let's see!
